The Grammys are considering adding an Afrobeats category. The only person who would be permitted to host a category would be the Afrobeats artist.
“In its preliminary review, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) expressed concerns about the inclusion of non-American artist groups on the list of nominees. NAHJ felt that any criteria that included non-Hispanic artists would dilute the importance of the Academy’s Latin music category,” the Grammy committee said in a statement. [CNN]
