The idea of a superhero film starring Quentin Tarantino, who has built a career with outlandish and outrageous performances that have been criticized as racist, comes as a surprise to many, but when he took the stage at our Pop Culture Happy Hour this week to talk about his new film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, it was clear the filmmaker wanted to reveal something about his life that no one else could.

For many years the public image of Tarantino has been that of the misanthropic, and in the world of entertainment critics and detractors have repeatedly made that mistake. He has, of course, denied that this is his only life as a celebrity, and he has told the press that he is only interested in “a normal life,” but in the same breath he has told the press he is “obsessed” with making movies.

Woods was there to shoot a commercial for Playboy, and it made for an interesting conversation.
