Trent Alexander-Arnold says Manchester City is the “biggest game of my career” and feels he has never really faced anything remotely as challenging as the Premier League in his time at the Etihad.
Having made his professional debut as a 16-year-old for City earlier this season, Alexander-Arnold admits he had high hopes for his first season with the club and believes he has surpassed most of those expectations during his time in England.
“It’s the biggest game of my career at the moment,” Alexander-Arnold said.
“There’s no doubt about it, Manchester City is the biggest game of the season.
“You feel the pressure and the magnitude of the game so I’m really proud to be a part of a club like Manchester City being challenging for the league.
“They are a great team with a great manager with a great squad.
“There are lots of good characters and it’s a great group of players and I have enjoyed my time at Manchester City already.”
Alexander-Arnold played in all of City’s 19 league matches during the regular Premier League season and also made a first-half substitute appearance in the Champions League loss to Barcelona.
“What’s different is that this is my first shot at European football and I’ve never faced any big opposition in my time at City,” Alexander-Arnold said.
“I’ve played against a lot of teams and that’s what I want for the biggest game of my career at the moment.
“I want everyone to watch, and they can see that I’m ready to play every time I walk out on to the pitch.
